ROBERT THOMPSON AT NORTHWOOD HOUSE COWES 2010
Michelin starred chef, Robert Thompson, will be setting up a pop-up restaurant at Cowes during July/August 2010 at historic Northwood House working with the managing trustees for the Charitable Trust Northwood House and parkland to enable the House's survival for the future.
For more than 180 years Cowes Week has been the only place to be in August, a beguiling, playful jewel in the British Social Calendar, and the discreet summer playgound of the jet set. Now there is a new unmissable reason to visit Cowes this summer. Robert Thompson, Michelin starred chef patron of The Hambrough in Ventnor, is setting up a pop-up outpost at historic Northwood House in Cowes throughout July and August 2010. Thompson's objective - to showcase to the world his delicious, light-as-air summer menu bursting with vibrant, seasonal ingredients with surprises from the incredible Island larder - the perfect Isle of Wight summer - in the rare and historic setting of Northwood House, a Victorian Grade II* listed gem. Thompson says "Cowes is an exciting world class event. People from all over the globe come to the island to take part in the racing, but most visitors do not know that only a 5 minute stroll away from the waterfront there is a beautiful building and I thought what a fantastic setting for a restaurant. I have been in close contact with the trustees who are working tirelessly to secure the building's survival and I believe that giving people the opportunity to dine at Northwood House at such a glorious time of year will highlight the trustees' cause and a percentage of the profits of the venture will be going to the Charitable trust".
